Carmen Vidal, winner of thirteen NY Emmy® Awards,a Student Academy Award® (Oscar) and Two Telly Awards, Carmen Vidal is a Spanish-American filmmaker and TV producer. Her work has been exhibited in international film festivals, as well as the United Nations, ARTE TV, PBS, LeMonde.fr, and the MoMA.
She has worked as a screenwriter and director on the series Matices, a thriller produced by Secuoya Studios and Stellar Media for SkyShowtime, set to premiere in 2025. The series features an impressive cast, including Elsa Pataky, Maxi Iglesias, Juana Acosta, Eugenio Poncela, and Hovik Keuchkerian. She is also the director of the documentary Casa Diversa (2024), which focuses on a shelter for trans individuals in Paraguay.
Her portfolio includes historically themed documentaries such as Exilios (a Spain/Mexico co-production, 2020) and Retrats (Spain / Mexico, 2019). With a strong interest in social issues, she has worked as a content producer and director for the television magazines Nueva York and Latinas on New York’s public network CUNY TV, exploring the lives of Latinos in the city.
In collaboration with journalist Marta Martínez, she directed the short documentary Tanzanie: un mariage entre femmes qui défie la tradition (2019) for Le Monde, which examines the challenges women face in gaining access to land in Tanzania. Her notable works also include the short films El Eclipse, Slate, and 6 a.m..
