Liliana Torres

INFORMATION

Liliana Torres was born at Vic in 1980. She graduated in Cinema Direction by ESCAC (2004). Her dissertation was the short movie Anteayer selected to represent the new women directors at Muestra de Cortos Realizados por Mujeres.

She receives a grand to specialize in documentary at CCC (Mexico). There she will stay seven years. Those will be a very productive years in which she will work as a director, producers, writer and editor. She directs the shortmovie Quince años, winner of the Distribution Prize of Miami Film Festival for Children. She edits the videos for the exhibition Eternidad Fugitiva exhibited at Palacio de Bellas Artes. And she is executive producer of El lenguaje de los machetes selecte at Venice’s Critics’ Week.

Back to Spain she directs and produces her first hybrid documentary-fiction Family Tour that will have its premier at San Sebastián Int. Film Festival at Zabaltegui’s section. After a good number of festivals: REC Int. Film Festival Critics’ Award, Citation at Atlántida Film Festival, Best European Movie at European Crossing Borders, Best New Director by Catalan Director’s College.

During these years she complements her academic career with a Master Degree in Helping Relatioships. In 2018 she premieres Hayati co-directed with Sofía Escudé, produced by Boogaloo and Les Films d’Ici Films in co-production with Movistar +, Tv3, Al-Jazeera, France 3 and ICEC. Citation of Young Jury at Málaga Film Festival and Best Documentary by the Journalists’ Association of Catalonia.

In 2020 she continues her academic career with the course Experto of Leadership and the Master Degree Leadership and Group Management at Barcelona University, which she completed in 2023.

In 2021 she premiers ¿Qué hicimos mal? Her second hybrid between fiction and documentary. Oficial Selection ad Sevilla Int. Film Festival and Tallin Film Festival. Winner Best Photography at Mestre Mateo Awars 2022. Since 2022 she is also teacher at the University of Barcelona.

Nowadays she is post-producing Mamífera her first fiction movie.
