Barcelona, 1993. Gemma graduated in 2014 in film directing and screenwriting from Bande à Part, Barcelona Film School. Gemma has written and directed short films, advertising and audiovisuals for theatre. He has had the opportunity to experiment with different formats and media (8mm, 16mm, digital and MiniDV) and has attended numerous workshops such as “Filming in Barcelona with Abbas Kiarostami”. In 2015, his short film Formas de Jugar received the award for best short film in the Noves Visions section of the International Film Festival of Catalonia – SITGES 2015. In 2017 he received a grant from the ICAA to direct his short film Jauría. Jauría premiered in 2018 in the Official Selection of the Malaga Film Festival. It subsequently travelled to renowned festivals such as Sitges, Abycine, Madrid Film Festival, ALCINE, Gijón, Almería, Amiens, BogoShorts, among others, achieving pre-selection for the Goya Awards 2019 and being a finalist candidate for the Gaudí Awards 2019. In 2018 Gemma attended the workshop “The construction of the character” at the prestigious film school EICTV (Cuba), where she developed the synopsis of her second feature film, La Furia. The feature film mixes autobiographical events with fragmented themes. The Gijón International Film Festival-FICX 2018 premieres his first experimental feature, El Zoo. It then passes through the LPA Las Palmas festival and its Catalan premiere takes place at D’A 2019. His screenplay project La Furia is selected in the Ayuda Dama mentored by the screenwriter Michel Gaztambide, and later in the Mallorca Talents Lab (FILMIN) and Sources- 2Catalonia2020. In 2021, the project La Furia went to the markets and workshops Studio+ (New Horizons), Brussels co-Production Market, winning the Music&Cinema award, Abycine Lanza and the Torino Film Lab extended, tutored by Ori Sivan. She is part of the FICG 2021 Co-Production Meeting (Mexico), winning two industry awards. She has worked for MOD Producciones in the development of a fiction series. In 2021 she is on the shortlist of 9 finalists for the Residence de la Cinéfondation (Cannes) with her project La Furia. She is currently being mentored by director Carla Simón thanks to the CIMA Mentoring 1to1 programme as she prepares new fiction projects.
