Elena L\u00f3pez Riera holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication, she is a filmmaker, programmer and teacher. Her work has been shown at festivals such as Cannes, Toronto, Locarno, San Sebasti\u00e1n, Cin\u00e9ma du r\u00e9el, Vila do Conde, Hiroshima, Fidocs, Cali and Rekjiavik, and at art centres such as PS1 MOMA in New York.<\/p>\n

As a programmer, she has worked for the Entrevues de Belfort festival, the Seville European festival and the Visions du r\u00e9el festival. She has taught at the Universities of Geneva, Valencia, Carlos III, and since 2019 she teaches at HEAD (Haute \u00e9cole d’art et design) in Geneva and at the El\u00edas Querejeta School in San Sebasti\u00e1n.\u00a0 She has also participated as a speaker at the Tabakalera International Seminar (San Sebastian), at the Museo de Arte Universitario de M\u00e9xico (Mexico DF) or ArtBo (Bogota, Colombia) or Territorios y fronteras (University of the Basque Country, Bilbao). She has been artist-in-residence at Ikusmira Berriak (Tabakalera), and at the R\u00e9sidence de la Cin\u00e9fondation at the Cannes Film Festival.<\/p>\n

She has directed the short films Pueblo<\/em><\/strong> (2015), Las v\u00edsceras<\/em><\/strong> (2016), and Los que desean<\/em><\/strong> (2018), the latter distinguished with the Pardino d’Oro at Locarno, the Grand Prize at Zinebi and Vila do Conde, and nominated for the European Film Awards. Her feature film El agua<\/em><\/strong> (2022) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was invited to numerous international festivals such as Toronto, San Sebasti\u00e1n, and Melbourne, earning a nomination for Best New Director at the Goya Awards.
