Miguel Alcantud is the creator and artistic director of the successful Microteatro format, with venues in 15 cities in the United States, Spain, Argentina, Mexico and Peru, among others. The success of Microteatro has been echoed by newspapers around the world, from El Pa\u00eds in Spain to The Guardian in London or The New York Times.<\/p>\n

He is a member of the Spanish Film Academy and has directed four feature films: Impulsos (sold to more than fifty countries, from Australia to Argentina or the United States), Anastezsi (European co-production with actors such as Derek Jacobi, Tom Burke or Angela Molina), Y viceversa (experimental film sold to the USA) and Diamantes Negros (more than 25 countries and 30 festivals, winning the Audience\u2019s Choice Award at the Malaga Film Festival 2013).<\/p>\n

He wrote the screenplay for The virgin of Highland Park, a feature film starring Penelope Ann Miller and Dermot Mulroney, distributed by Lionsgate in the United States.<\/p>\n

In television, he has directed over 60 episodes of Prime time series such as El Cid (first Amazon Prime Original in Spain where he directed, among others, episode 1), El Ministerio del Tiempo (awarded in 2015 and 2016 as best Spanish fiction and voted in the 2017 MIM series festival as the best Spanish series in History, currently on HBO), \u00c1guila Roja (awarded in 2010, 2011 and 2012 as best Spanish fiction, currently on Amazon Prime), Estoy vivo (the series sensation of the 2017 season, also on Amazon Prime), El Internado (one of the best 50 formats broadcast on television worldwide in the last 50 years, according to a rank made by the international consulting agency WIT (World Information Tracking, Amazon Prime), El final del camino, an adventure series set in the 11th century for TVE, Flipante Noa for Disney Channel or Brigada Costa del Sol, the first Warner Bros series in Spain for Netflix and Tele 5. <\/p>\n

He has written and directed numerous plays, the last one, Apenas 20 segundos, premiered at Teatro Lagrada in January 2021. Other plays include La virgen de la Ballesta (2011), El secreto de la calle de la lluvia (2008), Madre Post Mortem (2004), Inmoral (1998) or 11 d\u00edas (1995) (awarded at Valencia\u2019s Mostra de Teatre Jove). <\/p>\n

He has also written and directed the following short plays: Nena, se ha roto (2022), Mirror\/mirror (2019) (only directed, text by Inma Chac\u00f3n), Planes (2018), \u00bfY si hacemos una peli? (2018), Julieta y Julieta (2017), Ens\u00e9\u00f1ame la cara (2015), Buruli (2015), \u00bfY si? (2015), Are you alone? (2015), Superdotado (2012), Sin direcci\u00f3n (2012), Casi doce (2011), Un detalle (2011), Si no creyera (2010), El cumplea\u00f1os de la luna (2010) and Eric (2009). <\/p>\n

He coordinated and directed the project Olmedo Caballero el de, a deconstruction of El caballero de Olmedo produced by Microteatro for the Almagro classical theatre festival (2013). He has written theatre texts for directors such as Marcelo D\u00edaz (Historias del patio de recreo, 2006), Manuel Callau (Sobre ventanas y sillas, 2011), Patricia Ord\u00e1s (Anunciaci\u00f3n, 2012).<\/p>\n

He was a finalist in 2013 for the prestigious Valle Incl\u00e1n theatre award.<\/p>\n

He has published two books, the novel Incertidumbre, published in September 2021 by Suma de letras (Penguin Random House) and the theatre anthology Microteatro, a story through 9 micro plays that reached number 3 in Amazon’s theater book sales rank. In 2015 he received the FICC\/GNF Award from the Cartagena International Film Festival in recognition of his career. In 2018 he also received an award for his career at the Requena y Acci\u00f3n Festival.<\/p>\n
