JORGE NARANJO (Seville, 1976) is a screenwriter and director. His first feature film, \u2018Casting\u2019 (2013) premiered as part of the Official Section of the 16th Malaga Spanish Film Festival, where it was awarded two \u2018Biznagas de Plata\u2019 (Best Recurring Actor and Best Recurring Actress for the entire cast). The film was created from a short film of the same name \u2013 which earned considerable success at the 11th Notodofilmfest. This achievement allowed him to premiere two sequels on the same platform: \u2018Casting Two\u2019 and later \u2018Casting Three\u2019, all of which constitute a trilogy that would be the germ of its first major piece. <\/p>\n

The film “Las Ni\u00f1as de Cristal”, its release date pending and written with its director, Jota Linares, is his first assignment as a screenwriter for NETFLIX. In addition, his series “Poeta en Nueva York”, based on the trip that Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca took, is one of the projects selected for the Spanish Film Academy Residencies 2020-2021. Furthermore, the pilot episode of “Vinagreta Garbo”, another fiction of his own creation, won second prize in the final of the International 2021 TV Series Pilot Competition organized by Filmarket Hub. Another of his feature film scripts, “Los 40 son los nuevos”, which was granted financial aid by the Community of Madrid in 2019, was selected for the Sources 2 Script Check Workshop, and is currently seeking funding.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, his latest short film, “Cumplevidas” (2017), made in collaboration with the Primera Toma school and the Diversi\u00f3n Solidaria Foundation, and created in a workshop with children with oncological diseases, took part in the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival. His previous work, “Un billete a nunca jam\u00e1s”, was shortlisted for the 2018 Goya Awards and has won more than 30 awards. This film is based on a text of the same name by the author, which won the 1st Short Story Award at the Astorga Christmas Contest. Other outstanding short films are “Llama ya”, “Cinco contra uno”, “Superhero” or “Los ni\u00f1os de Charlot”. As for television, he has written for production companies such as Globomedia, Isla, El Terrat, Nueva L\u00ednea (“Jos\u00e9 Mota Presenta”) and has developed formats for Ganga, the creators of “Cu\u00e9ntame c\u00f3mo pas\u00f3”. In 2015, he was a member of the jury of the SGAE\u2019s 2nd TV Series Creation Lab. Regarding theatre, he has written and directed “AMOR”, a play that ran for several months at Madrid\u2019s Sala T\u00fa. He has also made several promotional videos as well as taken marketing and creative duties for films such as “Cuerpo de \u00c9lite”, “La Tribu”, “Lo dejo cuando quiera”, “Arde Madrid”, “Hasta el cielo”, “Way Down”, “Operaci\u00f3n Camar\u00f3n” and “Sevillanas de Brooklyn”.<\/p>\n

Since July 2017, he has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences within the specialty of Directing, where he collaborated in the project-book “Cine y Educaci\u00f3n”, a subject that has always interested him. In 2020, he was elected president of CREAMOS, association of directors and screenwriters of Andalusia, a position he currently holds.<\/p>\n

He has also given several workshops and courses on screenwriting and acting at institutions such as Central de Cine, Primera Toma, S\u00e9ptima Mars, the Madrid Film Institute or Centro Act\u00faa. In the latter, he taught a workshop on the creation of television series along with director Fernando Colomo in April 2016. He has also directed music videos for artists such as Julio de la Rosa, El Imperio del Perro or Ni\u00f1os Mutantes. Currently, he has created his own production company, NANA FILMS, with which he has begun to finance his next work, a short film titled “7 formas de decir adi\u00f3s”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
